At Lloyds Banking Group we’re embracing change and creating a simpler, more responsive, digitally-led organisation. With us you’ll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future.

Our colleagues are at the heart of our digital transformation, adopting progressive technologies and agile practices to support us on our journey to build the bank of the future. With their help, we’re serving more than 16 million online customers and transforming the way Britain banks.

The Network Security and Assurance team are looking for a Site Reliability and Network Security Engineer to operate, improve and modernise the technologies that protect the Group. The role combines technical operations, configuration and integration, delivery and SRE practices to improve security, reliability and service outcomes across on-premises and cloud environments.

Your accountabilities will include:

  • Operate, monitor and troubleshoot network security and infrastructure services, using logs, alerts, dashboards, scripts and diagnostic tools to resolve or escalate issues.
  • Configure and integrate third-party security platforms into the Group’s architecture, tailoring services to operational, performance and security requirements.
  • Plan, implement, test and validate technical changes across the product lifecycle, using appropriate engineering and delivery practices with limited supervision.
  • Apply SRE and service-engineering practices to improve observability, operational readiness, recovery and root-cause analysis; contribute to service measures such as SLIs, SLOs and Error Budgets.
  • Develop and maintain automation that reduces operational toil, improves repeatability and supports reliable release, assurance and service-management activities.
  • Complete configuration reviews, control checks and evidence gathering, addressing gaps and supporting secure, auditable outcomes.
  • Maintain clear designs, procedures and service documentation, and work with Product Teams, infrastructure colleagues and suppliers to deliver agreed outcomes.
  • Identify practical opportunities to simplify, modernise and strengthen services while balancing customer outcomes, security, reliability and operational risk.

Key skills and experience:

We’re looking for an established engineer with practical experience across networks, security and SRE, including operating, automating and continually improving secure, reliable infrastructure services. You’ll also bring curiosity and a strong commitment to continued learning and development.

  • Configuration & Integration. Connect and tailor third-party systems to Group requirements, improving data flow, automation, operational capability and security.
  • IT Platforms & Hosting. Recognise required infrastructure changes, evaluate options and draft component specifications covering usage, performance and security.
  • SRE & Service Engineering. Support reliable, observable services through automation, release engineering, recovery and RCA, contributing to SLIs, SLOs and Error Budget tracking.
  • Technical Delivery. Apply appropriate agile or traditional engineering practices across the product lifecycle to deliver, test and update products and services.
  • Technical Operations. Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose and manage issues using scripts, tools, technical judgement and established processes.
  • Agile Methodology & Tools. Contribute to agile ceremonies and day-to-day delivery, adapting to change and applying agile principles, methods and tools.
  • AI Literacy. Understand basic AI concepts, terminology and ethical considerations, and use AI tools within established guidance.
  • Coaching & Feedback. Use simple coaching approaches to support peers or junior colleagues in reflection, problem-solving and achievable development goals.
  • Collaboration. Build effective relationships, share information across boundaries and work with others to achieve team and Group outcomes.
  • Continuous Learning. Develop knowledge through discussion, practice, analysis and reflection, applying processes and seeking context when needed.
  • Critical Thinking. Analyse facts, data and alternative scenarios objectively, ask relevant questions and adapt decisions as priorities or context change.
  • Customer Centricity. Understand changing customer needs and align individual and team effort to deliver fair outcomes and business benefits.
  • DevOps. Apply fundamental CI/CD, automation, observability and security practices in familiar contexts to improve delivery, reliability and collaboration.
  • Solutions Design. Support functional and application design, documenting requirements, outputs, interfaces and logical components with supervision.
  • Technical Security. Apply basic security administration and diagnostic processes to maintain secure systems and protect information and technology.
  • Technology Intelligence. Understand emerging technologies, recognise their potential impact and articulate relevant opportunities for the Group.
