Position description:Â The role involves overseeing and managing the operations within the Steel Melting Shop (SM) focusing on Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) and Charging processes at Jindal Stainless Limited. This position requires ensuring optimal production efficiency, maintaining safety standards, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to meet production targets. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising daily activities, troubleshooting operational issues, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives in a high-volume, industrial environment within the mining and metals sector.
Primary Responsibilities:Â
- Manage and supervise the daily operations of the Electric Arc Furnace and Charging areas to ensure smooth and efficient production processes.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to schedule and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities to minimize downtime.
- Implement and enforce safety protocols and environmental regulations to maintain a safe working environment for all personnel.
- Monitor production parameters and quality standards, ensuring compliance with company and industry benchmarks.
- Lead and mentor a team of operators and technicians, providing training and development to enhance operational capabilities.
- Analyze operational data to identify bottlenecks and implement process improvements to increase productivity and reduce costs.
- Collaborate with planning and logistics departments to optimize raw material handling and inventory management.
- Prepare and present regular reports on production performance, safety incidents, and operational challenges to senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and internal audits related to the SMS operations.
